| Comments: [FreedomWatch] NEALZ NUZEIT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN
Yes, it's time for the NAACP's annual convention. This year it's in
Baltimore.
And, given that this is an election year, convention-goers will be treated
to
all sorts of pandering by the presidential candidates. Al Gore's appearance
was a no-brainer. George W. Bush will show up, too. And even Green Party
socialist Ralph Nader will be there. So will chief race warlords Jesse
Jackson and Al Sharpton. They can't pass up this photo-op.
Let's review some of the NAACP's shining achievements over the past year:
Pushed for boycotts of the major television networks until they include more
minorities in production and onscreen.
Filed a lawsuit against more than 100 gun dealers and distributors.
Clamored to take the Confederate flag down from the South Carolina
Statehouse, threatening boycotts that have hurt black tour operators.
And let's look at some of the items on the NAACP's agenda for the coming
year:
Push for federal hate crime legislation.
Fight the rollback of affirmative action programs.
Address the health care disparities between blacks and whites.
So their basic agenda is to disarm Americans, make prime-time TV more
diverse, obliterate all traces of the Confederacy, make the punishment more
severe for anyone who commits a crime against someone who isn't their own
color, and promote the idea that race should matter more to an employer than
qualifications.
What a bunch of illogical group-thinkers the NAACP leadership is! Where's
the
push for school vouchers to get black kids out of failing schools? Or the
promotion of gun owners' rights so those black homeowners in high-crime
areas
can defend themselves? Or addressing the culture of non-achievement,
violence, and predatory sex that seems so popular nowadays among young
blacks?
Nah. Those kinds of issues would take too much effort to address. And NAACP
leaders fear the day their constituents wake up and realize they've been
played for suckers. So it's the hot-button, sexy issues like the Confederate
flag...not lasting solutions to real problems.

The BCSF is a non-profit organization running out of Oxford, Mississippi. Founded in the year 2000, the BCSF began as a movement under Anthony Hervey.
Mr. Hervey discovered that one of his reletives was a black American who fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Mr. Hervey then began to perform further research and has discovered records of at least 100,000 black Confederates who fought in the war and have lived anonymously in history with no real recognition whatsoever. The mission of the Black Confederate Soldier Foundation is simple.
We are trying to force America to try and rethink its views on the Civil War - what the war was really about, the non-issues of the Confederate flag as a racist symbol, and the motives behind the misrepresentation of black Confederates in historical texts.
We also seek to build a memorial in the names of all of the black Confederates who fought and died in the war against Northern aggression.
We seek only to correct the errors in history - to right the wrongs done to the memories of these brave, honorable soldiers. Many, many people question our motives in starting this movement.
Our motives are simple and reletively selfless - we seek to correct history. We have found an injustice in the lack of recognition given towards the black Confederate soldiers in historical texts and the minds of the populace - we are striving to correct that.
We want America to see its history for what really happened rather than what politicians and historians want us to see.

Men say Rebel flag flies for freedom For an hour, the Confederate battle flag flew over the former site of the Eight Flags Display on U.S. 90. Dressed in Confederate gray, a black man named Anthony Hervey marched with the banner clutched in his hands. His brother, Harry, accompanied him, wearing jeans and a Robert E. Lee T-shirt. Hervey's devotion to the flag began when he discovered that a great-great-uncle, James Hervey, was a black American who fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War. James Hervey served in the Army of Mississippi and was killed at the battle of Shiloh. Further research helped Hervey discover records of at least 100,000 black Confederates who fought in the war. "I am marching for freedom," Hervey said. "The battle flag stands for freedom and states' rights. The U.S. flag is the flag of slavery. It flew over 100 years of slavery, and Native Americans were annihilated under that flag." For his march, Hervey chose the site where a Confederate flag once stood, one of eight representing entities that have governed the Coast. Harrison County removed the flags because of protests over the Confederate flag, a racist symbol to many, flying on the public beach. Hervey's crusade also has taken him to Jackson. In the Jackson City Council chambers June 13, Hervey showed up wearing his battle grays, wrapped in the flag. A scuffle erupted between a Jackson man, who said he supported Hervey, and a city councilman who exchanged words, according to published reports. Hervey was not involved in the shoving match. Hervey sees a correlation between the past and today's controversies over the flag. "We currently live under a psychological form of reconstruction," he said. "Whites are made to feel guilty for sins of their ancestors, and blacks are made to feel downtrodden. This keeps all of us from communicating. The political correctness of today is killing the pride of the people." Hervey is the founder of the Black Confederate Soldier Foundation, an Oxford-based, not-for-profit organization. Its stated mission is to foster new thought on the Civil War. Claims that the Confederate flag is a racist symbol are, to the group, part of a nonissue. Black Confederates, the group says, have been misrepresented in historical texts. Hervey wants to build a memorial that will include the names of the black Confederates who fought and died in the War Between the States. As the Hervey brothers continued their march, shouts of support and anger could be heard from passing motorists. A group of young black men hanging from car windows shouted at the pair. Hervey instructed his brother to look forward "like a true soldier." "Don't even look at them," Hervey said, citing the young men's behavior as an example of black psychology today. "They will yell a lot and want you to confront them, but they will not do anything," Hervey said. "I found it appalling what happened in South Carolina, and I'm afraid this is going to happen in Mississippi." Hervey said. "We seek only to correct the errors in history - to right the wrongs done to the memories of these brave soldiers. The Sun Herald, 23 June, 2000 |

| Comments: Hi, My name is Melissa clark. I am fifteen years old and I am a member of youth without violence. Last week on March 31st, my High school voted to keep the confederate flag up. The faculty wanted down, somebody in fulton county wanted it down, but the students and the Pta voted to keep it up. Even though the students voted to keep it up, the majority wanted to take it down , they just didn't vote. Please help our school and others who want to take the confederate flag down. I personally don't think that anything that offends anyone should be flying over people. Thank you for reading this. |

| Comments: Iam pretty dissappointed with the NAACP.The reason i say this is because I faxed out some information about my son,and I never recieved a response from anyone at the Chicago location. There is a chance that no could help me there but I feel someone could have called me back and let me know something.I also recieved some mail from the NAACP office asking me for a contribution,I don't have a problem with supporting my black organzation's,and people. But why should I support an organization that doesn't even return a person's phone call. That hurt me pretty bad, because I faxed the Chicago office more than once. |

| Comments: Just a thought provoking question.
Why doesn't the NAACP use the money they are wasting on the confederate flag issue, on something more worthy of fighting for?
If the NAACP, is an organazition for advancement of colored people, why do they not help the kids that are poor, with out food, with out proper health care, under educated, abused, or just plain with out guidance? Or is it they don't want to fight for worthy causes, just something they can say they made the "White man" refrain form using, doing, or saying?
I could care less one way or the other. Just don't put kids lives second place. The lives of children should be our number one focus. I hope and pray this e-mail will help change something.
